On a Thursday afternoon mid-October, hundreds of students from the University of Illinois lined up to enjoy a frozen treat. For the first time ever, Jarling’s Custard Cup held a pop-up stand on the University’s Main Quad. About 300 students tried free samples of our quality custard. From orange, cherry and lime to chocolate and vanilla, University goers jumped back in line just to get another taste of the different flavors we have to offer! 

While this was the first time many University of Illinois students tried our ice cream, many had heard of The Cup. Since we earned the title of Best Dessert in the Big Ten, we wanted to bring our legendary treat to the best students in the Big Ten. Not only did students get to try our samples, but some left with Jarling’s swag and coupons too! 

We had the chance to survey the pop-up patrons and learned that not all students are aware that we have a stand at Memorial stadium for all home football games. Hopefully, we can get the word out for students to enjoy Jarling’s at the next football game they attend! We even learned that the favorite flavor of many is our signature cold fudge flavor, a classic!

We anticipated our pop-up to last two hours, but to our pleasant surprise, we handed out all our samples in only one hour. It was so rewarding to see hundreds of smiling students, eager to get a taste of our product. We hope to continue to see those same smiling faces of the University of Illinois students on Kirby Avenue very soon (or maybe at our stand in Memorial Stadium for future Illini home games!  Go ILLINI!)
